హైదరాబాద్: చరిత్రను తెలుసుకున్నవాళ్లే భవిష్యత్తును చక్కగా నిర్మించగలరని తెలంగాణ రక్షణ సేన అధ్యక్షురాలు కవిత అన్నారు. 80వ స్వాతంత్ర్య దినోత్సవం సందర్భంగా టీఆర్‌ఎస్ రాష్ట్ర కార్యాలయంలో స్వాతంత్ర్య వేడుకలను ఘనంగా నిర్వహించారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా కవిత జాతీయ జెండాను ఎగురవేసి, దేశ స్వాతంత్ర్య పోరాటం, బ్రిటీష్ పాలన ప్రభావం, భారతీయ సమాజంపై పడిన దుష్ప్రభావాలపై మాట్లాడారు.

బ్రిటీష్ పాలనలో జరిగిన అఘాయిత్యాలు తెలుసుకోవాలి

స్వాతంత్ర్య భారత చరిత్రను ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ తెలుసుకోవాల్సిన అవసరం ఉందని కవిత అన్నారు. బ్రిటీష్ పాలన, బ్రిటీష్ పరిపాలన, విభజించి పాలించే విధానం వల్ల భారతీయ సమాజంలో అనేక విభేదాలు ఏర్పడ్డాయని పేర్కొన్నారు. బ్రిటీష్ పాలనలో జరిగిన అఘాయిత్యాలు, భారతీయులపై జరిగిన అన్యాయాలను భవిష్యత్ తరాలకు తెలియజేయాలని అన్నారు.

రెండు ప్రపంచ యుద్ధాల్లోనూ భారతీయులను సైనికులుగా ఉపయోగించుకుని ఎంతోమంది ప్రాణాలు కోల్పోయేలా బ్రిటీష్ పాలకులు చేశారని కవిత విమర్శించారు. భారతీయుల వనరులను, మానవ వనరులను బ్రిటీష్ సామ్రాజ్య ప్రయోజనాలకు వినియోగించుకున్నారని ఆరోపించారు.

కుల వ్యవస్థపై బ్రిటీష్ ప్రభావం

బ్రిటీష్ వాళ్లు భారత్‌కు వచ్చిన తర్వాత కుల వ్యవస్థ మరింత పెరిగిందని కవిత వ్యాఖ్యానించారు. అప్పటివరకు అడవుల్లో స్వతంత్ర జీవనం సాగించిన ఆదివాసీలను కూడా రాజ్యం పరిధిలోకి తీసుకువచ్చి వారికి తీరని అన్యాయం చేశారని అన్నారు.

భారతీయ సమాజంలోని వైవిధ్యాన్ని అర్థం చేసుకుని ఐక్యతను పెంపొందించాల్సిన సమయంలో బ్రిటీష్ పాలకులు తమ ప్రయోజనాల కోసం విభజన విధానాలను ఉపయోగించారని విమర్శించారు.

బ్రిటీష్ పాలన పోయినా ఆలోచనా విధానం పోలేదు

భారతదేశానికి స్వాతంత్ర్యం వచ్చి బ్రిటీష్ పాలన ముగిసినప్పటికీ, బ్రిటీష్ ఆలోచనా విధానం పూర్తిగా సమాజం నుంచి తొలగిపోలేదని కవిత అన్నారు. ఇప్పటికీ ఇంగ్లీష్ మాట్లాడేవారే గొప్పవారన్న భావన కొనసాగడం దురదృష్టకరమని వ్యాఖ్యానించారు.

తెలుగు భాష మాట్లాడితే తక్కువగా చూడటం, ఇంగ్లీష్ మాట్లాడితే గొప్పగా భావించడం వంటి మానసిక ధోరణులను మార్చుకోవాల్సిన అవసరం ఉందన్నారు. మన మాతృభాష, మన సంస్కృతి, మన చరిత్రపై ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ గర్వపడాలని పిలుపునిచ్చారు.

‘తెల్లతోలు గొప్ప’ అనే భావన నుంచి బయటపడాలి

బ్రిటీష్ పాలకులు ‘తెల్లతోలు గొప్ప.. నల్లతోలు తక్కువ’ అన్న భావనను ప్రచారం చేసి భారతీయుల మధ్యే మానసిక విభజన సృష్టించారని కవిత అన్నారు. మనలో మనల్ని శత్రువులుగా మార్చే విధానాలను గుర్తించి వాటి నుంచి బయటపడాలని సూచించారు.

స్వాతంత్ర్యం అంటే కేవలం బ్రిటీష్ పాలన నుంచి విముక్తి పొందడం మాత్రమే కాదని, బ్రిటీష్ ఆలోచనా విధానం, వలసవాద మానసికత, విభజన రాజకీయాల నుంచి కూడా విముక్తి పొందడం అవసరమని కవిత పేర్కొన్నారు.

చరిత్ర నుంచి పాఠాలు నేర్చుకోవాలి

భారత స్వాతంత్ర్య పోరాట చరిత్రను యువత తెలుసుకోవాలని కవిత సూచించారు. గతంలో జరిగిన పరిణామాలను అర్థం చేసుకున్నప్పుడే దేశ భవిష్యత్తును సరైన దిశలో నిర్మించగలమని అన్నారు.

దేశ స్వాతంత్ర్యం కోసం పోరాడిన మహనీయుల త్యాగాలను గుర్తు చేసుకుంటూ, వారి ఆశయాలకు అనుగుణంగా సమాజాన్ని నిర్మించాల్సిన బాధ్యత ప్రతి ఒక్కరిపై ఉందన్నారు. స్వాతంత్ర్య దినోత్సవం కేవలం జెండా ఆవిష్కరణ కార్యక్రమంగా కాకుండా దేశ చరిత్రను, స్వాతంత్ర్య ఉద్యమాన్ని, సామాజిక మార్పు అవసరాన్ని గుర్తు చేసుకునే సందర్భంగా ఉండాలని కవిత పేర్కొన్నారు.

Reject British Colonial Mindset, Learn History to Build the Future Kavitha

Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Sena president Kavitha has called upon people to understand India’s history and reject the colonial mindset that, she said, continues to influence society even after the end of British rule.

Speaking at 80th Independence Day celebrations held at the TRS state office, Kavitha hoisted the national flag and addressed the gathering. She said that people who understand history are better equipped to build a strong and progressive future.

British Rule and Its Impact Must Be Understood

Kavitha said the atrocities committed during British rule in India and the colonial policy of “divide and rule” must be properly understood by the present generation.

She alleged that the British used Indians as soldiers during the two World Wars, resulting in the deaths of a large number of Indians. According to Kavitha, understanding the consequences of British colonial rule is essential to appreciating the significance of India’s independence.

She also claimed that the caste system became more entrenched after the arrival of the British and alleged that tribal communities living in forests were brought under the state’s administrative control, causing them considerable injustice.

Colonial Mindset Continues After Independence

Kavitha strongly criticised what she described as the continued influence of the British colonial mindset in Indian society.

Although British rule ended decades ago, she said, certain attitudes associated with colonial thinking continue to influence social behaviour. She particularly objected to the perception that people who speak English are superior while those who speak Telugu or other Indian languages are treated as less educated or less important.

“Speaking English should not be considered a measure of superiority, while speaking Telugu should not be looked down upon,” Kavitha said, stressing the importance of respecting Indian languages and cultural identity.

‘White Skin Is Superior’ Thinking Created Division

Kavitha further alleged that colonial propaganda promoted the idea that white skin was superior and dark skin was inferior, creating divisions among Indians themselves.

She said such attitudes contributed to a mentality in which Indians were made to look at one another as rivals or enemies. According to her, the country must move away from such colonial attitudes and develop greater confidence in its own history, languages and culture.

Need to Move Beyond Colonial Thinking

Kavitha said India’s independence should not be viewed merely as the end of British political rule. She argued that true freedom also requires society to move beyond the British colonial mindset and the psychological impact of colonialism.

She called for greater awareness of Indian history among the younger generation and said the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle should not be forgotten.

“Those who know history can build the future better,” Kavitha said, emphasising the need to learn from the past while shaping a more confident and socially conscious India.

Independence Day Should Inspire Historical Awareness

The 80th Independence Day celebrations provided an opportunity to reflect on India’s freedom struggle, colonial history and the country’s journey after independence, Kavitha said.

She urged people to respect Indian languages, traditions and cultural identity and to reject attitudes that perpetuate colonial-era divisions.

Her remarks focused on the continuing relevance of understanding British rule in India, the impact of colonialism, the divide-and-rule policy and the need to overcome the British colonial mindset in contemporary society.
