ఆడబిడ్డలపై ఆగని వేధింపులుఆడబిడ్డలపై అరాచకాలు ఏటికేడు పెరుగుతున్నాయి. అత్యాచారాలు, వేధింపులు, దౌర్జన్యాలు అధికమవుతున్నాయి. ప్రేమ వ్యవహరాల్లో ఇటీవలి కాలంలో జరుగుతున్న హత్యల వంటి తీవ్ర నేరాలు ఆందోళన కలిగిస్తున్నాయి. ఒంటరిగా బయటకు వెళ్ళ్లిన మహిళలు, యువతులపై లైంగిక వేధింపులు పెరిగాయి. వివాహం అనంతరం అదనపు వరకట్నం, ఆడ సంతానం, అనుమానాలపై భర్త, అత్తింటివారు పెట్టే హింసల భరించలేక మహిళలు ఆత్మహత్యలు చేసుకుంటున్నారు. పాఠశాల, కళాశాల విద్యార్థినులకు ఈవ్‌టీజింగ్‌ తప్పడం లేదు. ప్రేమ పేరుతో యువతులను వంచించి మోసాలకు పాల్పడుతున్న వారి సంఖ్య ఏటేటా పెరిగిపోతూనే ఉంది. వాటికి అడ్డుకట్ట వేసేందుకు అధికార యంత్రాంగం తీసుకుంటున్న చర్యలు ఫలితమివ్వడం లేదనే విమర్శలు వస్తున్నాయి.

ఫ చట్టాలెన్ని ఉన్నా..

కేంద్ర, రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వాలు ఎప్పటికప్పుడు కొత్త చట్టాలను తీసుకువచ్చినప్పటికీ నేరాలను నియంత్రించలేకపోతున్నారు. చట్టాలెన్ని ఉన్నా వేధింపులకు గురవుతున్న అబలలను న్యాయం జరగడంలేదనే విమర్శలు బాధితుల నుంచి వెల్లువెత్తుతున్నాయి. జనాభాలో సగానికిపైగా ఉన్న మహిళలకు రాజ్యాంగం ప్రకారం పురుషులతో సమానంగా ఆర్థిక, రాజకీయ, సాంఘీక రంగాలలో సమాన హక్కులు, అవకాశాలు కల్పించినా లింగభేదంతో మహిళలపై జరిగే అరాచకాలు అంతకంతకూ పెరిగిపోతున్నాయి. మహిళలకు సంబంధించి ప్రతి అంశానికి ఒక ప్రత్యేక చట్టం ఉన్నది. ఈ చట్టాలపై మహిళలు అవగాహన పెంచుకోవాల్సిన అవసరం ఉన్నది. ఎటువంటి వేధింపులపై ఎక్కడ ఫిర్యాదు చేస్తే న్యాయం జరుగుతుందనేది మహిళలు మొదట అవగాహనకల్పించుకోవాల్సిన అవసరమున్నది. ప్రభుత్వం కూడా మహిళా చట్టాలపై తరచుగా మహిళలకు అవగాహన సదస్సులు నిర్వహించాల్సిన అవసరమున్నది.

ఫ అధిక శాతం వేధింపుల కేసులే..

కమిషనరేట్‌లో మహిళలకు సంబంధించిన కేసుల్లో అత్యధికంగా వేధింపుల కేసులే ఉండటం గమనార్హం. 2023లో మహిళలకు సంబంధించి 583 కేసులు నమోదుకాగా ఇందులో 262 కేసులు వేధింపులకు సంబంధించినవి ఉన్నాయి. 2024లో 598 కేసుల్లో 237 వేధింపుల కేసులు, 2025లో 567 కేసుల్లో 248 వేదింపుల కేసులే ఉండటం గమనార్హం.

ఫ ఫిర్యాదుల కమిటీలు….

పని ప్రదేశాల్లో మహిళలు ఎదుర్కొంటున్న లైంగిక వేధింపులపై ఫిర్యాదు చేయడానికి ఆయా సంస్థల్లో యజమానులు ఫిర్యాదుల కమిటీని ఏర్పాటు చేయాల్సి ఉంటుంది. ఈ ఫిర్యాదుల కమిటీలో 50 శాతం మహిళలను నియమించాలి. మహిళలు ఎదుర్కొంటున్న లైంగిక వేధింపులపై ఈ ఫిర్యాదుల కమిటీకి బాధితులు పిర్యాదు చేసిన సందర్భంలో కమిటీ విచారణ జరిపి లైంగిక వేధింపులు నిజమని వెల్లడైతే వెంటనే పోలీసులకు ఫిర్యాదు చేస్తుంది. కమిటీ ఫిర్యాదుపై పోలీసులు కేసు నమోదు చేసి చట్టపరమైన చర్యలు తీసుకుంటారు. మహిళలకు ఈ ఫిర్యాదుల కమిటీ, చట్టాలపై అంతగా అవగాహన లేకవడంతోపాటు, లైంగిక వేధింపులపై ఫిర్యాదు చేస్తే ఈ విషయం అందరికీ తెలిసి పరువుపోతుందనే భావన, భయంతో మిన్నకుండిపోతున్నారు. దీంతో కీచకులు వారి పద్ధతిని మార్చుకోకుండా మరింత రెచ్చిపోతున్నారు.

జిల్లాలోని ఒక ప్రభుత్వ పాఠశాలలో విద్యార్థినిపై ఆ పాఠశాల ఉద్యోగి ఒకరు అసభ్యకరంగా ప్రవర్తించడంతో అతడిని సస్పెండ్‌ చేశారు. జిల్లాలోని అన్ని ప్రభుత్వ, ప్రైవేట్‌ పాఠశాలల్లో ఫిర్యాదుల పెట్టెను ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. విద్యార్థినినులు బయటకు చెప్పుకోలేని అసభ్యకరమైన సంఘటనలు ఎదురైన సందర్భంలో ఈ బాక్స్‌లో లెటర్‌ రాసి వేస్తే అధికారులు తగిన చట్టపరమైన చర్యలు తీసుకునేలా జిల్లా యంత్రాంగం ఈ చర్యలు చేపట్టింది.

2025లో పోలీస్‌ కమిషనరేట్‌ పరిధిలో మహిళలపై జరిగిన నేరాలకు సంబందించి 567 కేసులు నమోదు అయ్యాయి. ఇందులో వరకట్న మరణాలు 8, ఆత్మహత్యలు 11, వేధింపులు 248, హత్యలు 7, అత్యాచారాలు 21, కిడ్నాప్‌లు 38, అత్యాచార ప్రయత్నంలో దౌర్జన్యాలకు సంబంధించి 194, బహుభార్యత్వానికి సంబంధించి 2 కేసులు, 38 ఇతర కేసులు నమోదయ్యాయి.

Crimes against women and girls are increasing year after year. Cases of rape, harassment, and violence are rising at an alarming rate. Serious crimes, including murders linked to love affairs, have become a major concern in recent times. Women and young girls travelling alone are increasingly facing sexual harassment. After marriage, many women are unable to bear the torture from husbands and in-laws over additional dowry demands, giving birth to girl children, or suspicions, leading some to suicide. School and college girls continue to face eve-teasing, while cases of cheating and exploitation in the name of love are also increasing every year. Critics say that the measures being taken by authorities to curb such crimes are not producing effective results.

Despite Several Laws…

Although the Central and State Governments are introducing new laws from time to time, they are still unable to control crimes against women effectively. Victims often complain that despite the existence of many laws, justice is not being delivered properly to women facing harassment and abuse. Even though women constitute more than half of the population and are guaranteed equal rights and opportunities in economic, political, and social sectors under the Constitution, gender discrimination and atrocities against women continue to rise.

There are special laws for almost every issue related to women. However, women need greater awareness about these laws and about where to file complaints to seek justice in cases of harassment. The government also needs to conduct awareness programs regularly to educate women about legal protections and support systems available to them.

Majority of Cases Are Harassment Cases

It is noteworthy that most of the cases registered under the Commissionerate related to women are harassment cases. In 2023, a total of 583 cases related to women were registered, of which 262 were harassment cases. In 2024, out of 598 cases, 237 were harassment-related. In 2025, among 567 registered cases, 248 were harassment cases.

Complaint Committees at Workplaces

To address sexual harassment at workplaces, organizations are required to establish complaint committees. At least 50 percent of the members in these committees should be women. If a victim files a complaint before the committee and the allegations are found to be true after inquiry, the committee immediately reports the matter to the police. The police then register a case and take legal action.

However, many women are unaware of these committees and legal provisions. Some victims also hesitate to complain due to fear of social stigma and embarrassment if the issue becomes public. This silence is encouraging offenders to continue their abusive behavior.

Complaint Boxes in Schools

In one government school in the district, an employee was suspended for behaving inappropriately with a female student. Following this incident, complaint boxes were installed in all government and private schools across the district. Girl students who are unable to openly speak about inappropriate incidents can now drop written complaints into these boxes, allowing authorities to take necessary legal action.

567 Cases Registered in 2025

In 2025, a total of 567 cases related to crimes against women were registered under the Police Commissionerate limits. These included:

• 11 Suicide Cases
• 248 Harassment Cases
• 7 Murder Cases
• 21 Rape Cases
• 38 Kidnapping Cases
• 194 Cases Related to Attempted Rape and Assault
• 2 Polygamy Cases
• 38 Other Cases
