అమరావతి: ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లో స్థానిక సంస్థల ఎన్నికల నేపథ్యంలో అధికార కూటమిలో సీట్ల పంపకం, స్థానిక నాయకత్వ సమన్వయంపై కసరత్తు వేగం పుంజుకుంది. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ ముఖ్యమంత్రి, టీడీపీ అధినేత నారా చంద్రబాబు నాయుడుతో కూటమి సమన్వయ కమిటీ సభ్యులు సమావేశమై స్థానిక ఎన్నికల సన్నద్ధతపై కీలక అంశాలను చర్చించారు. డిప్యూటీ సీఎం పవన్ కల్యాణ్తో భేటీ అనంతరం చంద్రబాబు నాయుడు ఈ సమావేశం నిర్వహించడం ప్రాధాన్యత సంతరించుకుంది.

ఈ సందర్భంగా కూటమి నాయకులకు చంద్రబాబు నాయుడు కీలక దిశానిర్దేశం చేసినట్లు సమాచారం. గత సార్వత్రిక ఎన్నికల్లో కూటమి సాధించిన ఓట్ల శాతాన్ని స్థానిక సంస్థల ఎన్నికల్లో మరింత పెంచాలని సూచించారు.

Chandrababu Reviews TDP-Jana Sena-BJP Seat Sharing Ahead of AP Local Body Elections

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu has reviewed the ruling alliance’s preparedness for the upcoming AP Local Body Elections, with seat sharing, coalition coordination and reservation issues emerging as key points of discussion.

The meeting took place after Chandrababu Naidu met Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan. Later, the Chief Minister held discussions with members of the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance coordination committee.

TDP Andhra Pradesh president Palla Srinivasa Rao, Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu and other alliance leaders attended the meeting. Chandrababu sought details about the progress of coordination meetings held at the constituency and district levels and reviewed the alliance’s strategy for the AP Local Body Elections.

Jana Sena seeks 50% corporator seats where its MLAs are elected

A major issue discussed during the meeting was seat sharing in the AP Local Body Elections.

According to the information discussed by the alliance coordination committee members, Jana Sena is seeking the municipal chairperson post along with 50% of corporator seats in areas where its MLAs are in office.

The proposal is reportedly based on the argument that better coordination between the Jana Sena MLA and the municipal chairperson would help in implementing development programmes and maintaining political coordination at the constituency level.

The issue of Jana Sena seat sharing is therefore expected to become an important component of the alliance’s strategy for the upcoming local elections.

BJP has a different seat-sharing strategy

However, the BJP’s strategy for the AP Local Body Elections is reportedly different.

According to the alliance discussions, BJP leaders believe that where the party already has an MLA, its political leadership is naturally established. Therefore, the BJP is reportedly seeking municipal chairperson and corporator positions in other areas where it can strengthen its local organisation.

The BJP’s approach is aimed at expanding the party’s local leadership and organisational presence across Andhra Pradesh rather than concentrating its share of local posts only in constituencies where BJP MLAs are already present.

This difference in approach could make TDP-Jana Sena-BJP seat sharing one of the most important issues to be resolved before the AP Local Body Elections.

State-level coordination meetings to be held

The alliance coordination committee has reportedly completed meetings at the constituency and district levels.

State-level coordination meetings are scheduled to be held next, with discussions expected to focus on seat allocation, candidate selection, local-level coordination and the overall election strategy.

Alliance leaders also informed Chandrababu that the final decision on candidates cannot be taken until the local body election reservations are announced.

Since reservations have not yet been finalised, the parties will have to wait before deciding which leaders will contest particular municipal, corporation and other local body seats.

Chandrababu asks alliance leaders to improve vote share

During the meeting, Chandrababu Naidu reportedly directed alliance coordination committee members to ensure that the ruling coalition secures a higher vote share in the AP Local Body Elections than it achieved in the previous Assembly elections.

He stressed the importance of unity among TDP, Jana Sena and BJP leaders at the grassroots level.

Chandrababu reportedly instructed alliance leaders to work together and aim to win the maximum possible number of seats in the AP Local Body Elections.

The Chief Minister’s message comes at a time when the ruling alliance is seeking to translate its electoral strength at the Assembly level into victories in municipalities, corporations and other local bodies.

Pawan Kalyan may have submitted Jana Sena seat list

Meanwhile, there is considerable discussion within alliance circles about the recent meeting between Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan.

Sources within the alliance are discussing the possibility that Pawan Kalyan may have handed over a list of seats sought by the Jana Sena Party to Chandrababu during their meeting.

There has been no official confirmation regarding the reported list so far.

The final Jana Sena seat allocation, however, is likely to depend on several factors, including reservation categories, the strength of the respective parties at the local level and the broader TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance seat-sharing formula.

Local body elections could test alliance coordination

The AP Local Body Elections are expected to be an important political test for the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance.

Unlike Assembly elections, local body elections involve strong grassroots networks, local leadership equations, community-level factors and individual candidates. As a result, seat-sharing among alliance partners could prove more complicated than at the state level.

The alliance leadership will have to balance the demands of the three parties while ensuring that internal differences do not affect the electoral prospects of the coalition.

For the TDP, maintaining its organisational dominance remains a major priority. For the Jana Sena, the local elections provide an opportunity to expand its political and organisational footprint. For the BJP, securing local positions in new areas could help strengthen its grassroots network in Andhra Pradesh.
