She emphasized that Visakhapatnam development is not just about urban growth but a larger strategy for North Andhra development, aiming to create employment opportunities, boost industrialization, and strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s economy. However, Anuradha strongly criticized the previous government led by Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, alleging that between 2019 and 2024, Vizag development and North Andhra development were neglected. She claimed that instead of promoting Andhra Pradesh development, the region witnessed a decline in investments, fewer job opportunities, and issues like land encroachments and rising illegal activities. This, she said, slowed down Visakhapatnam growth and impacted the state’s reputation as an investment destination.
Highlighting the current administration’s approach, she said the government has moved beyond “Ease of Doing Business” to “Speed of Doing Business,” ensuring faster clearances, investor-friendly policies, and proactive governance. This shift is expected to significantly boost Vizag development, attract IT investments in Andhra Pradesh, and generate large-scale employment opportunities in Vizag and across North Andhra.
A key highlight of the renewed Vizag development push is the establishment of the Google Data Center in Visakhapatnam. Anuradha described the Google Data Center Vizag project as a landmark initiative in Andhra Pradesh development, stating that it will place Vizag firmly on the global technology map. The data center is expected to create around 1.8 lakh job opportunities, both directly and indirectly, significantly boosting job opportunities in Vizag and strengthening North Andhra development.
She noted that such mega projects are crucial for positioning Visakhapatnam as a leading IT hub in India, alongside cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The Google data center will also encourage ancillary industries, startups, and digital ecosystems, further accelerating Vizag growth and Andhra Pradesh development.
At the same time, she alleged that opposition leaders attempted to stall the Google Data Center Vizag project by filing court cases and petitions, which she termed as obstacles to Vizag development and investment growth. She criticized comparisons of the data center to a warehouse, calling them misleading and indicative of a lack of understanding about high-tech infrastructure projects.
Anuradha also pointed out that during the previous administration, no major industries were brought to Visakhapatnam, which affected employment and economic growth. In contrast, the current government is actively working to attract global investments, develop industrial corridors, and promote IT sector growth.
She praised Nara Lokesh for his efforts in driving IT investments in Andhra Pradesh, creating job opportunities in Vizag, and supporting youth employment. The government’s vision, she said, is to make Visakhapatnam a world-class IT hub, accelerate Vizag development, and ensure balanced North Andhra development.
