పీజీ మెడికల్ సీట్ల కౌన్సెలింగ్కు సుప్రీంకోర్టు షాక్ – గడువు పొడిగింపు అసాధ్యం

తెలుగు రాష్ట్రాల్లో పీజీ మెడికల్ అడ్మిషన్ల కోసం ఎదురుచూస్తున్న విద్యార్థులకు పెద్ద షాక్ తగిలింది. Supreme Court of India కీలక తీర్పు వెలువరిస్తూ, పీజీ మెడికల్ సీట్ల కౌన్సెలింగ్ గడువును ఇకపై పొడిగించే ప్రసక్తే లేదని స్పష్టం చేసింది. ముఖ్యంగా మెనేజ్మెంట్ కోటా సీట్లు ఆశించిన విద్యార్థుల ఆశలు నీరుగారాయి.
పీజీ మెడికల్ సీట్ల భర్తీకి సంబంధించి దాఖలైన పిటిషన్లను జస్టిస్ పీఎస్ నరసింహ నేతృత్వంలోని ధర్మాసనం విచారించింది. ఈ సందర్భంగా National Medical Commission (NMC) వాదనలను సమర్థిస్తూ కోర్టు ఈ నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంది.
కౌన్సెలింగ్పై కోర్టు స్పష్టం
ఇప్పటికే మొత్తం 7 రౌండ్ల కౌన్సెలింగ్ నిర్వహించామని, ఇంకా రౌండ్లు నిర్వహించడం సాధ్యం కాదని కోర్టు తెలిపింది. కౌన్సెలింగ్ ప్రక్రియను నిరంతరం కొనసాగిస్తే అకాడెమిక్ క్యాలెండర్ దెబ్బతింటుందని ధర్మాసనం అభిప్రాయపడింది.
ప్రతి సంవత్సరం కొన్ని సీట్లు మిగిలిపోవడం సహజమని, ముఖ్యంగా ప్రైవేట్ మెడికల్ కాలేజీల్లో అధిక ఫీజులు ఉండటం వల్ల సీట్లు ఖాళీగా మిగులుతున్నాయని కోర్టు వ్యాఖ్యానించింది.
NMC నివేదిక కీలకం
ఈ కేసులో NMC సమర్పించిన నివేదికలో, మిగిలిపోయిన సీట్లలో ఎక్కువ శాతం ప్రైవేట్ మెడికల్ కాలేజీలకే చెందినవని పేర్కొంది. ప్రభుత్వ సీట్లు దాదాపు పూర్తిగా భర్తీ అయ్యాయని వివరించింది.
అలాగే, గతంలో సుప్రీంకోర్టు ఇచ్చిన తీర్పుల ప్రకారం నిర్దేశిత గడువు తర్వాత అడ్మిషన్లు చేపట్టడం నిబంధనలకు విరుద్ధమని స్పష్టం చేసింది.
విద్యార్థులకు తదుపరి మార్గం
ఈ తీర్పుతో సీటు వస్తుందని ఆశించిన వందలాది మంది విద్యార్థులు ఈ విద్యా సంవత్సరానికి అవకాశం కోల్పోయారు. ఇకపై వారికి ఉన్న మార్గం ఒక్కటే — వచ్చే ఏడాది జరిగే NEET PG పరీక్ష కోసం సిద్ధమవ్వడం.
వైద్య విద్యలో సమయపాలన, క్రమశిక్షణ అత్యంత కీలకం అని సుప్రీంకోర్టు మరోసారి స్పష్టం చేసింది. సీట్లు మిగిలిపోయాయనే కారణంతో విద్యా సంవత్సరాన్ని వృథా చేయలేమని తేల్చిచెప్పింది.

Supreme Court Denies NEET PG Counselling Extension, Students Hit
Postgraduate medical aspirants in the Telugu states, especially those waiting for management quota seats, have received a major setback after the Supreme Court of India ruled that there will be no extension of the NEET PG counselling deadline.
Hearing petitions seeking an extension to fill vacant PG medical seats, a bench led by Justice P.S. Narasimha upheld the stance of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and dismissed the requests.
No More Counselling Rounds
The Supreme Court clarified that seven rounds of NEET PG counselling have already been conducted and extending the process further is not feasible. It emphasized that continuing admissions beyond the deadline would disrupt the academic calendar and affect the quality of medical education in India.
The court also noted that vacant seats are common every year, particularly in private medical colleges, where high tuition fees often discourage candidates.
NMC’s Stand Supported
In its submission, the NMC strongly opposed any extension, stating that most of the unfilled seats belong to private medical institutions, while government medical seats are nearly filled.
The commission also pointed out that, as per previous Supreme Court rulings, admissions after the stipulated deadline violate regulations governing medical admissions in India.
Impact on Students
With this ruling, hundreds of aspirants hoping for a NEET PG seat allotment this academic year have lost their opportunity. Students who failed to secure seats must now prepare for the next NEET PG exam.
